Grab your forks! The Kids Food Festival, presented by The Creative Kitchen, is coming to NYC’s Bryant Park this March 1st and 2nd! A weekend full of flavorful fun, the Kids Food Festival educate families about making balanced food choices through a host of family-friendly activities including cooking classes, food demonstrations, live entertainment, the Balanced Plate Scavenger Hunt for kids, food sampling, giveaways, and more!
Our featured charity partner, the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, has been working for years with top chefs and celebrity food stars to create the best tasting, most nutritious recipes for school cafeterias across the nation. These recipes make it easy and affordable for schools to create meals that kids enjoy and give them the nutrients they need to play and learn all throughout the day. And with help from their chefs and food stars, the Alliance has reworked many of these recipes to be used in your kitchen and for your family.
Asian Salad Bowl? Cranberry, Pear, Provolone Salad Pizza? These recipes were created by friend of the Kids Food Festival and iCarly star Reed Alexander. Reed is a famous foodie and has used his knack for making delicious and nutritious meals to support childhood health with the Alliance by creating his own series of healthy recipes that can be used in school or in the home.
Use both of Reed’s recipes to create a fun dish for your kids, and make it a family affair. When kids are invested in the food they are served they tend to enjoy it more and are more open to trying new and healthier things. So do a family trip to the store and let everyone play a part in the kitchen when you’re preparing dinner tonight.
If you enjoy these recipes, share the school-friendly versions with a school near you. All of these recipes have been taste-tested by students and have received the thumbs up from food service operational staff. And each and every recipe the Alliance has in their cookbook meets their strict nutritional guidelines. Happy Cooking!
