The Creative Kitchen believes in teaching all kids, including children with developmental and learning disabilities, about healthful eating through our hands-on cooking classes. Our close friend, Sherri Shepherd, supports many of the same causes that are close to The Creative Kitchen’s heart. Apart from hosting The View and being the hilarious comedic actress that we know and love, Sherri Shepherd supports people with developmental and learning disabilities and their families. She especially is an advocate for healthful lives for all. Like Cricket Azima, Sherri is a friend of YAI that support both Sherri’s and Cricket’s sons who have developmental and learning disabilities. Once again, Sherri has paid forward love and support to all moms and their families in her hilarious and honest memoir, Permission Slips: Every Woman’s Guide to Giving Herself a Break. Permission Slips is a great read for all moms this winter because it reminds moms that they deserve a “permission sip” every so often. An important part of keeping their families healthy and growing is that moms deserve a break.
From the Mouth of a Kid:
I love it because it allows mommy to relax!
From the Eyes of a Parent:
Sherri Shepherd is such a wonderful role model! Her memoir, Permission Slips, was written in an amusing yet honest and loving way. I found myself completely immersed in the ups and downs of her life. She’s very relatable because she is a fellow mom who loves and cares for her family and is a mom to a child with learning disabilities. Her book especially showed me that sometimes the challenges in our lives are the greatest learning curves! Reading Permission Slips has taught me in more ways than one and given me “permission” and opportunities to “take a break.” What a great way to relax!
